Reflection of my coloring journey 2016

As I reflect on my artistic journey on this last day of 2016, I felt blessed that the last year has been very rewarding for my personal growth, I learned a lot and have great fun doing it. I started coloring a year ago with one book and a small box of colored pencils just to kill time on a long flight home. Today I found a whole community of artists from all over the world who shared their work, their techniques and above all their support and encouragements. Social media is a wonderful thing. I am grateful for all my followers and those I followed on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Your likes and comments mean a lot to me.

Special moments of 2016

I was really honored when my first coloring card design was featured in the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine blog in November. I will continue to design one free downloadable coloring card for the magazine per month in the new year.

I never thought I would ever expose myself  (my hands anyway) on youTube. It’s kind of scary to me. I really wanted to demonstrate how I colored my maple leaf coloring card with the Tombow dual brush pens. So I set my phone in a coffee mug and taped my first video.  I now bought a little tripod for my phone so hopefully I can do better videos in the future.

It was a proud moment when my blog colorart.ca went live in November. It was a learning curve to learn all about WordPress, themes, plug-ins, web hosting, site performance and security. I am a WordPress newbie and still learning the ropes. There are many more things I want to add to my site in the future and I am truly grateful to all of you who visited and thank you for all the subscriptions. Don’t forget to visit my gallery from time to time as new pieces are added as I completed more color art!

Looking forward to the New Year

The world is full of turmoil. Man-made and natural disasters are enough to drive your spirits down.

When I am coloring, I escape into a tranquil beautiful world where at least for that moment I forget all my worries. I am very privileged to be able to share my experiences with others. 2017 is the “Year of the Rooster”. I colored the rooster page from the book Maniac Botanic by Irina Vinnik as featured at the top of this blog to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. In Chinese astrology, the rooster symbolizes keen observation and practical thinking. Roosters also represent a need for control and perfectionism. Some of these traits fit perfectly with the colorist in you!

Happy Coloring!
